Apparently, spending most of my time on unpaid contribution to an open source ecosystem does not pay the bills. Who'd have figured! So, if you're interested in learning more about Nix/NixOS or are just getting started or even looking to learn a bit about it to see whether you'd like to get into it; I'm your man. I've been using (and sometimes abusing) Nix daily since 2021. I do [the Full Time Nix podcast](https://fulltimenix.com), which is a podcast all about Nix since 2024. I hope you enjoy it! I also do [The Molybdenum Software Show](https://molybdenum.software), in which—together with friends—I contribute to the open source Nix software ecosystem. Follow that link for hundreds of hours of that. And [here's my GitHub profile](https://github.com/mightyiam), in case you wanna see what else I've been up to. I absolutely love the sharing of knowledge. So if you choose me as a mentor you make me ten times happier, and I can't wait to help you gain a deeper and more complete understanding of exactly the parts of Nix that you need to solve your problem. So, please, shoot me a message on this platform and tell me what it is you're curious about or need to learn more about or have to solve. I might just text you back an answer, or we get on a call and figure out whatever that is together. To me it does not matter that you're new to Nix, to Linux or even to software. I will mentor you with respect and patience regardess. I won't go on and on about things you don't want to know. I am here to serve your needs, accommodating your understanding, your state of mind, your mood and your motivation. Try me. I was literally born on Teachers' Day. Looking forward to hearing from you! I'm sure we'll have a great time problem-solving.

I've been coding since I was nine and I still love it. I've worked as a freelancer for very large and very small businesses. I've worked for SF bay area startups and I've contributed to a lot of open source software. I have taught classes and mentored a lot of people.

Young generalist engineer graduate from Icam de Nantes (France), I am fond of a lot of stuff. Most of them are linked to new technologies, IT, and software development. I am currently in charge of R&D at Startup Palace, a company providing lots of services to startups, where I actually do many different things (which is something I like!). For example, I am helping CTOs of different startups with various tech problems they encounter. I also recently defended my PhD thesis in Software Engineering. I care about Open Source, and I like when my code is simple and maintainable. I'm here to meet interesting people with interesting problems, and do my best to help them! (Note: in case you wonder, helping beginners *is* an interesting problem)

I've been tutoring for more than five years: I'm passionate about helping students grapple with new concepts and seeing that understanding come to life with the magic of programming languages. I care about my craft and exposing fellow programmers to stylistic and organizational patterns that reveal factorizations and challenge the reasoning behind conventional defaults. I have professional experience in mobile game development, DevOps, low-level networking software, and hardware debugging.

I love to teach people functional programming. It's currently my day job. I sometimes upload FP classes to Twitch and YouTube.

“Denys is a very patient mentor. His way of teaching is to help students thoroughly understand how something works step by step, rather than teaching only to solve a specific problem. This is my first time working with Denys, and I will continue learning with him in the future.“

“My session with Zack was extremely helpful. He broke down fundamental Python concepts in a way that finally made them click and helped me get a clear, organized starting point for building a project, even if it was still rudimentary. His explanations were patient, practical, and confidence-building. I would absolutely recommend Zack as a mentor. I’d give a 6/5 if I could.“

“David is an exceptional mentor who strikes a perfect balance between deep theoretical knowledge and practical product insights. He has a keen eye for the 'big picture' of a product, which helped me understand how individual tasks fit into the larger strategy. I especially appreciated how he tailored each session to my specific interests, making the learning process both comfortable and highly effective. Highly recommended for anyone looking to level up their product thinking!“
