# 👋 Hi, I’m Damián
**Senior Software Engineer** with 10+ years turning ideas into _real, working code_ — using **Kotlin**, **Java**, **Python**, **Haskell**, **JavaScript**, and **SQL**.
---
### 🚀 But here’s what really matters:
I know how overwhelming programming can feel —
and I’m *really* good at making it make sense.
Whether you're:
- A **beginner** who thinks `if` statements are witchcraft,
- In **university or bootcamp** and your code feels like a tragic love story,
- Or a **pro** getting roasted by a bug that mocks your debugger —
**I’m here to help.**
---
## 🧠 How I Can Help
### **📍 Starting from zero?**
- Learn **Python, Java, Kotlin, or Haskell** — no overwhelm, no nonsense.
- Understand **core concepts**: variables, loops, functions — *and why they matter*.
- Build **real projects**, not just toy examples.
- Stop copy-pasting code you don’t understand — I’ll help you _actually get it_.
---
### **🎓 In school or bootcamp?**
- Tackle **assignments** with clear explanations — not just magic answers.
- Design class hierarchies that *actually make sense*.
- Debug weird, soul-crushing errors.
- Start **thinking like a developer**, not just surviving syntax.
---
### **💼 Already coding professionally?**
- Write **meaningful tests** (JUnit, Mockito, pytest — no excuses).
- Migrate from **Java → Kotlin** or **OOP → FP** — _without the pain_.
- Work confidently with **Spring Boot, GraphQL, PostgreSQL, MySQL**.
- Refactor legacy code for **clarity, speed, and sanity**.
- Finally grasp **functional programming** — yes, *even monads* (no PhD needed).
---
## 🎯 My Teaching Style
- **No ego, no jargon** → Ask anything. I’ll meet you where you are.
- **"Why" over "what"** → I’ll help you _understand_, not just repeat.
- **Adaptable & fun** → If cat memes help you learn, I’ll bring the cats. 🐱
---
## ✅ Bottom line?
Whether you’re stuck, starting out, or leveling up —
**we’ll make progress, one clear concept at a time.**
Analytics is at heart of everything I work on. Starting with Business Objects XI, i have worked on all the major MIS and data disccovery tools. Along with strong Database background this has helped me now being in a position of in charge for Analytics domain for one of the largest bank in world.
Recent Machine learning enthusiast, have been leveraging Python to build my own financial markets models.
After getting out of grad school with my MBA in Finance, I began my career teaching hedge fund associates, asset managers, investment bankers, private equity associates and the like how to use my company’s web tool and excel plugin for financial modeling. Over the next 15 years, I worked as the Manager of Business Analytics leading a team of 3 and migrating analytics from excel to increasingly more technical solutions using SAS, Analysis Services and other tools and then moved to Consulting where I built Analytics solutions in the cloud learning new technologies to tackle more and more challenging problems. The past 5 years I’ve spent mastering the Azure data environment while helping countless junior technical professionals improve their skills on the job and deliver solutions that align with industry best practices.
When I’m working with people, I encourage them to be curious about what we are trying to learn and why it’s useful to gain that understanding. I encourage them to break problems down into the smallest parts possible and gain understanding of what purpose each step has and what scenarios are handled. I’m trying to teach a thought process and approach that enables people to think their way through the next slightly different problem that they are faced with and not just the one problem in front of them now.
The greatest joy that I get is when I see someone I’ve been working with take the next step, seeing a new issue and developing a solution that takes the next step beyond the patterns of the past to apply a new way of getting to the answer. Technology will never be more than an ever expanding tool belt, and an ability to correctly learn and marry the capability of the tools to the problems in front of you is far more valuable than being able to consistently mimic a pattern for a narrow use case without real understanding.
I spend my time working with clients and developers to build stable, scalable applications that exceed the client expectations.
I became a software developer because I truly enjoy writing code, and problem solving. I am driven by the challenge of complex issues. Taking on a task that others have said is not possible motivates me.
I also have a passion for mentoring new developers to help build the future developer community. Anytime I have the opportunity to mentor someone, I make sure to share with them the importance of sharing their knowledge with the team and the community.
After 15+ years as a software engineer, I've worked through a lot of sticky problems.
