I'm a self-taught game developer and programming instructor. With my name on three published titles (Land of Screens, Half-Past Fate, Bow Battle Arenas), I have experience working in a small studio setting under Serenity Forge and Denis Entertainment Inc. I got my start 20 years ago creating popular niche games using Warcraft 3 and the Lua based coding syntax. I also built up coding logic using multiple titles from the RPG Maker series, and gave back by producing several tutorials for the engine on game engine forums and Youtube. (https://www.youtube.com/user/Titanhex/videos) I've spent several years recently focusing on Unity and using the Unity Editor to build more complex 3D Games, as well as experimenting with the Python language, Lua, and Roblox to build and expand game development. I've even taken a brief foray into Unreal Engine. I've learned to develop for VR, Mobile, Console and PC. My thirst for knowledge is unquenchable, and I've practiced 3d modeling, photoshop and pixel art as well. I'm familiar with a wide range of industry standard development tools, techniques, paradigms and practices in game development and Unity development both in terms of coding and designing. I've built and taught game development in Unity, Unreal Engine, RPG Maker, Roblox, Godot, and more. I consider myself software agnostic. I'm self-taught in Lua, C#, Python, Javascript, Blender and Java at different levels for each. I teach most of them at a high level, and enjoy building programs and working within engines. Infact, one of my core abilities is in teaching others, but my true passion is in game development, where I spend my free time focusing. I have over 1500 hours of lessons taught building games with Lua & Roblox, over 600 hours of lessons taught in Unity, and over 300 lessons taught in Python, over 100 in Unreal Engine and 100 in Godot. That's not even including the thousands of hours spent on independent research, reading purchased e-books from many authors, and building my own projects and participating in game jams. When it comes to teams I'm cooperative and focused on helping others. I'm also self-sufficient, and know how to find answers. I use communication to build rapport, which is something I seek in my work environment, rapport with my fellow workers, and to exchange ideas, solutions and direction. I'm a potent leader, and often excel in such positions.

Being a software developer is more than just learning to program in a computer language. I have been building .NET web apps for years and multiplayer games since 2015, using Unity 3D using Photon Fusion (server-authoritative). I have also designed and/or worked on enterprise web sites from concept to deployment, some high-profile projects. I have served as a Senior or Lead Developer for years, mentoring other developers and encouraging them to use the latest technologies and best practices. For tutoring, I would focus on teaching design patterns, using events and encapsulation when designing applications and reinforcing the need to keep your skillset current as new technologies are released. I can give advice on how to focus your learning efforts to target specific types of development positions, and interviewing advice for finding a position within a software company. I had been a developer in C++ for about 10 years prior to using C# and focused on web technologies prior to working with Unity 3D. While I have primarily been using Unity 3D and Microsoft .NET / C# recently, I have also utilized legacy technologies like Classic ASP, VB and [VB.NET](http://vb.net/), COM/DCOM, worked with Linux/PHP/MySQL from time to time, and worked with the Microsoft SQL Server/Express/CE products for 10+ years. I also have formal SCRUM training, which is used by many companies for handling team project management. For Unity 3D multiplayer networking projects I typically work with and recommend Photon Fusion along with PlayFab integrations, PlayFab Matchmaking, and PlayFab GameServers. If your college project is a "Concept to POC" type of project where the Proof of Concept is the working software required for a grade, then I will also teach you to use a Git repository to manage the project (or Plastic/UVCS for Unity projects). I can help you document the Project Scope, Functional Specs, create Design Documents, and build the presentation for your college project. We can build completed projects in a short time, both the user interface and the server components as needed. My focuses are Unity 3D, Photon Fusion, PlayFab, C#, .NET Core, [ABP.io](http://abp.io/) backend (Blazor/.NET MVC/SQL Server)

How does personalized Game Engine Development mentoring differ from traditional classroom learning?

Personalized Game Engine Development mentoring through Codementor offers a unique and effective learning approach compared to traditional classroom learning, particularly in these key aspects:

  • Customized content: Personalized mentoring adapts the learning material and pace specifically to your needs and skill level. This means the sessions can focus on areas where you need the most help or interest, unlike classroom settings which follow a fixed curriculum for all students.
  • One-on-one attention: With personalized mentoring, you receive the undivided attention of the tutor. This allows for immediate feedback and detailed explanations, ensuring that no questions are left unanswered, and concepts are fully understood.
  • Flexible scheduling: Personalized mentoring is arranged around your schedule, providing the flexibility to learn at times that are most convenient for you. This is often not possible in traditional classroom settings, which operate on a fixed schedule.
  • Pace of learning: In personalized mentoring, the pace can be adjusted according to how quickly or slowly you grasp new concepts. This custom pacing can significantly enhance the learning experience, as opposed to a classroom environment where the pace is set and may not align with every student’s learning speed.
  • Practical, hands-on learning: Mentors can provide more practical, hands-on learning experiences tailored to real-world applications. This direct application of skills is often more limited in classroom settings due to the general nature of the curriculum and the number of students involved.

Personalized mentoring thus provides a more tailored, flexible, and intensive learning experience, making it ideal for those who seek a focused and practical approach to mastering Game Engine Development.
