I am a startup Managing Director and hands-on technology leader working across edge AI, computer vision, embedded systems, hardware, and cloud infrastructure. My company develops two main solutions: AI-based driving-behaviour evaluation and commercial fleet management Train-mounted digital inspection of railway infrastructure Both solutions are built around our dual-camera edge-AI hardware and enterprise cloud platform. My work covers the full product-development lifecycle. I manage developers while also contributing directly to industrial design, computer vision, AI development, imaging systems, camera integration, cloud applications, and embedded Linux. I have also worked on a custom 10-layer PCB containing three integrated subsystems, as well as custom Linux kernels and low-level device drivers. Alongside engineering, I am involved in product strategy, business development, technical communication, and turning early-stage ideas into deployable industrial systems. I previously served as the industrial advisor to master’s and PhD students working in AI, embedded systems, and cloud technologies. I greatly enjoyed helping them solve technical problems, structure their research, and develop practical engineering skills. I joined Codementor to continue having similar one-to-one technical engagements. I hold a double master’s degree in Embedded Systems, with a minor ion Innovation and Entrepreneurship, from KTH Royal Institute of Technology and Technische Universität Berlin. During my studies, I was awarded an excellence scholarship. I am fluent in English and Turkish and have basic communication skills in French, German, and Spanish. My mentoring areas include: - Python, C, and C++ - Embedded Linux and device drivers - Computer vision and edge AI - Embedded systems and digital hardware integration - Cloud architecture and application development - Technical project planning and debugging - Research, thesis, and prototype guidance

Sameh El-Ashry is working as senior digital verification engineer with 6+ years of industry experience. His work involves the verification of digital wireless communication IPs including PHYs, basebands, MACs, and verification of SerDes IPs. He has different published papers at international conferences for memory controllers, NoC, coverage, assertions, and UVM. My favorite hoppy is teaching to students.

I'm an experienced systems architect for designs targeting both ASICs and FPGAs. I've almost 20 years of experience working for industry heavyweights like Xilinx and Analog Devices. I've designed systems for various domains (networking, data center, graphics, etc.) which I've taken all the way from high-level requirements down to implementation and first silicon (depending on the technology used). I'd be happy to help anyone trying to dabble in this area.

During my grad school period, I developed a fascination for programming and embedded systems. Since then, I've been teaching "Embebbed C" for advanced students at the university, and "Advance Programming" in C++. On the other hand, I've worked with algorithms and problem solving, so a strong background in Matlab and Python was required. After academia, I've worked developing embedded C/C++ applications with Qt interfaces. Later, I decided to pursue a Ph.D. in hardware design in FPGAs for fast data processing. Since then, I've developed different projects using C, C++, Python, Qt, Keras, Skit-learn, Pandas, VHDL, scripting, and more. I really enjoy being a mentor because I can continue teaching, giving a different perspective, and helping others with solutions for different cool projects.

I am an absolute Nerd with all my heart and if you give me some piece of technology, it is my duty to find out how it works. I have written code in an uncountably infinite number of languages (rounded up) and my good night reads are books about C++ and datasheets of microcontrollers. I love to explain things to you and I make sure that you understand it. I usually have a real good sense at what point my mentee stopped understanding what I say and I will try to explain it again using different words and metaphors trying to fit your mental model of the world. Having worked as a student assistant, I taught first year students calculus and always tried to help my fellow students wherever I could. I'm looking forward to hearing from you.

I am a hands-on individual who leads by example, with passion to coach and train teams towards reaching the maximum enthusiasm and productivity. My strong technical foundation in hardware and software and engineering analytical planning, combined with my ability to coordinate the efforts of many to meet the organizational goals.

“I'm very grateful for all the support that I've received from Shawn sofar. I wanted to learn more about the basics of engineering so that I could use coding agents such as Claude Code and Cursor more confidently, and Shawn has acted as a true mentor in this regard. Always patient, solution oriented and taking the time to explain (and repeat) things, I'm really enjoying learning from Shawn.“
