I was hired by Samsung as an in house database expert in 2015 and then spent time at Google in their Cloud SQL team. Pretty much every job I've had since the mid '90s has included SQL in at least some capacity and at times I've written SQL for 40 hours per week. I've often had to reverse engineer an existing db that had no documentation. Fun times! I've also worked with super large dbs and dealt with all kinds of sharding and performance issues.

Professional experience includes image processing (OCR & QA), high speed paper transport, digital video recorders and encoding, video storage and streaming, television control room automation, turnkey office automation, kiosk applications, and remote sensors.

I cut my teeth on Version 7 from Bell Labs running on a PDP 11/70 and FreeBSD has been my desktop at home solidly since '94. I help with installing, configuring, servers, desktop, command line, troubleshooting, repair, and programming. My professional work has included servers, UIs, apps, middleware, frameworks, libraries, protocols, device drivers, and kernel modifications.

I think python is the perfect language for small and medium scale development and it has been my preferred tool for twenty years. Nealy all of the code I have written since 2008, both professionally and at home, has been python. I use it for web development, application development, scraping, and scripting. I even generate my resume using python and BeautifulSoup.

I learned C while still in school and it was the only language I programmed in for the first ten years of my career. I used to dream in C. It's a beautiful, elegant language that sits just above the hardware. I can see the assembly hiding behind the C code and I can sense the bits moving around in the hardware underneath.
