Maximilian Haack

I started playing around with Ruby a little over seven years ago and soon after found myself at a startup in Amsterdam where we ended up building their application with Ruby on Rails. Ever since those first hours playing around with the language I've been deeply in love with Ruby's expressiveness and how it just clicks with my brain. My ruby career took me from building MVPs for startups to being the Head of Ruby Development at a Munich and San Francisco based company. During that time I also developed a deep passion for teaching beginners and intermediate developers how to program and have for over three years been the residing Ruby / Ruby on Rails Instructor at Skillcrush Inc. Over the years I have worked on many different applications written in Ruby, many with the help of Rails plenty without.

C# was the first object oriented language I learned back in the days where that still felt like a novelty. Over the years it has grown to be a much liked and powerful companion. In recent years I've been working a lot with c#, developing ArcMap AddInns with ArcObjects as well as ArcGIS Pro AddIns with esri's new Pro SDK.

I'm a very early adopter of git, use it for pretty much everything and am deeply fond of it's simplicity. Oh I also wrote my thesis on git, so I've dabbled around in it's internals :)

JavaScript has been an interesting part of my career, I've had to work with it over and over again but until recently I've never had the pleasure of working on a real JavaScript application. Until then it has mostly been the sprinkle that make a site pop.

I've worked on multiple projects utilizing Python, a language that is so similar to my favorite (ruby) and yet so different.

A powerful companion that I've adored and hated in several projects over the years.

No experience writing production code as much as I wish for it. I've written a small text editor for the pure joy of it and you can find my name on rust's contributors file however, I've only done a few little documentation PRs ;)
