I've gone through love-hate cycles with JavaScript, but finally landed on a long patch of love thanks to React. ES6 object literals and rest spread probably added to the mix. I mainly use JavaScript for anything, client-side, server-side, I know JavaScript like it's my back of my hand. Especially when it wants a null value.
