I've been working with web services for most of my professional career. At some places, like LiveJournal, I've worked in a maintenance capacity keeping existing services running. At other places, like Blizzard Entertainment, I lead the effort to create web APIs to expose static and dynamic game information for World of Warcraft, Starcraft and Diablo.

When building software, security plays an important role both directly and indirectly. I'm very comfortable with security tools and procedures and have a solid understanding of encryption best practices and authentication/authorization models for APIs.

I understand how bitcoin works and have contributed to open source blockchain software.

I'm very familiar with the HTTP spec including more recent uses of fingerprinting, content delivery via websockets/eventsource, and caching.

I'm active in the devops community and feel very comfortable using the tools of the trade. I've participated in community groups and meetups, including devopsdays and have also attended conferences including chefconf.

I'm very comfortable in Erlang and have contributed numerous open source libraries to the community as well as code to the Erlang VM. I've spoken at Erlang User Conferences, the CUFP (conference for users of functional programming) and lead an Erlang meetup in San Francisco for several years.

The majority of the work that I do, both professionally and personally, involves server development of some sort.
