I started my development career in JavaScript. I find that establishing solid design patterns is a must, as the language itself is not very opinionated. I tend to try building applications as decoupled as possible. I've worked on some highly interactive applications on the front-end, while using Ruby along with Rails/Sinatra as an API to serve the data and do more intensive computing.
