I am responsible for a globally distributed team developing a web application and several back-end java services. The backend services ingest data from devices and other data sources into a variety of data stores (Postgresql/ElasticSearch/MySql). The web application uses the data to display charts/tables/geomaps of the data to the user. In addition, the web application consists of a variety of collaborative tools (video/chat/whiteboards/file-management/etc) to support users working together on projects from distributed locations.
I manage the team and the work to be done (planning/delegation/requirements/etc.) as well as have full responsibility for the java services and API. I co-manage the front-end (angularJS) webapplication with another senior developer. Day-to-day I am neck-deep in Java code and/or angularJs code and enjoy the time flying by while I code away :)
