Hired an excellent team of engineers from the likes of Wayflier and IBM iX, built a strong team culture and still have 100% retention after 12 months. Created, implemented, and up-skilled internal team members to run a modern, highly agile and user-focused product management and discovery process. Lead the construction of a first-in-class OB payment status management system in to compete with the traditional card authorisation and settlement process using first principle thinking and rigorous design. Created a strong external engineering brand by speaking at conferences such as Money2020, encouraging the team to create content and regular LinkedIn posts. Built an engineering progression framework and conducted regular coaching and growth sessions.

Lead large technical decisions that went on to greatly improve the customer experience and cut development cycle time dramatically. Coached and mentored all members of the development team in regular one-to-ones, assessing performance and facilitating communication (theory Y management). Redesigned the bug triage and reporting system to reduce bug lead time and improve transparency. Owned technical negotiations and designs with partners and vendors, including Banks and Accounting Software companies. Designed and lead development on core features including support for external bank cards, enterprise team support and and a first-of-it’s-kind OCR receipt scanner. Radically improved internal technical project communication, resulting in significantly better product decisions, stakeholder management and customer happiness. Setup, evangelised and managed regular sprint work for the development team and kanban tickets for contractors.
