I started working with JavaScript in 2013 when I was maintaining a retail system. I've used a lot JavaScript with jQuery, but now I'm on React, pure JS. I come from Java world, and as I understand most the Object Oriented programming paradigm, JavaScript was not so difficult. The main reason I don't like it a lot it's because the language mix a lot of things up (multiparadigm). E.g., closures from functional, statefull objects from OOp, etc.

I've started using Ruby on Rails last year and since the it's been my main framework for prototyping. This year I also started learning Elixir/Phoenix which I think will fully replace Ruby on Rails due to Ruby syntax similarity.

Elixir is a very good programming language which gives us pleasure to work with, almost like Ruby. Once we start getting functional programming your productive and addiction to the language will be countless. I started using and learning professionally Elixir this very year. I've used Elixir with GraphQL and React and it's a very good stack to work with. It's not so productive as Ruby on Rails, once it's not for prototyping ends, but it delivers a very high productivity in comparison to other languages like Java.

I've been using docker with Ruby on Rails applications and also with Elixir applications
