For my personal projects, I moved from C++ to Rust shortly after the release of Rust 1.4. – Built a web game, The Path, combining Rust and JavaScript using the stdweb library and emscripten – Built a system for procedurally generating music – Currently building TimeSteward, a game/simulation backend that automatically supports lockstep multiplayer with reliable synchronization, and other features (14,000 lines of Rust code) – Currently building a web app for synthesizing sound effects for game jammers – I can make lifetimes make sense

– Built and rebuilt my personal website multiple times, learning more every time – Built several small web apps using many different web APIs – Familiar with web accessibility issues

A great language for writing scripts that just get things done, without having to worry about technical rigor as much. My whole website is written in Python (or rather, it's a Python script that generates HTML/CSS/JavaScript files).

– Used C++ for my game projects for years. – Familiar with STL structures and algorithms, and which ones to use in which circumstances. – Done a lot of profiling and debugging, extreme template shenanigans (for when you need your type system to be NP-complete…) – Familiar with modern features up through C++14.

– A relatively simple language, so I can know almost all of it – Built a game mod with 26,000 lines of Lua code, wrote my own data structures in Lua – Wrote a small C++ program that embedded lua scripting
