I was contacted by Talent Garden to revamp their coding courses for full-stack web developers. Here I'm in charge of defining the new paths, selecting topics and materials to train new people ready to find their first junior developer job.

Reporting directly to our CTO my primary focus is on setting the engineering culture, coding standards and take care of and mentor the “Web and Apps” team. The Company has been mainly working with contractor for its beginning, on-boarding a new “in house”tech manage- ment team with the start of 2018, allowing me to serve on the hiring committee for both engineering and product man- agement teams. Believing in the value of a good developer experience, I set off to create an environment and development cycle heavily based on docker and docker-compose. With the help of the lovely “jwilder/nginx-proxy” we’re now in the position where on-boarding on a new project is as simple as a “docker-compose up” away. Working for a company who’s primary focus is privacy and big data, I’m also deeply involved in the “data-science sci- ence” side of things. Both collaborating with our Data Science Lead and CTO for the product and architectural aspects, as well as providing a strong engineering support for our data science team both during development as well as helping them achieving better performances when going live: when dealing with lots of data deploying a new analysis tool would easily end up in ETAs close to the age of the universe. It is quite a bit of fun finding ways to squish those long run-times down to be able to appreciate the results within the life span of a human: days instead of millennia. I’ve also hacked together our first alexa skills, starting as internal joke-apps able to answer curiosity questions (ex: “what’s the favourite train station for Londoners eating bacon”) and quickly spawning a new business venue leading us to offer our data and analysis infrastructure as a service throughout a new developers oriented portal.

As a member of the mobile web team my main focus are new and experimental customer facing features, bringing them from the PRDs to live taking care of both developing the needed javascript as well as leading the people involved in the feature. Thanks to my knowledge of cocoa I was also tasked with a support plugin for the design team, speeding up their job while producing the needed asset for the mobile stores thanks to a Sketch plugin that takes care of the heavy and bor- ing lifting for them.
