I started taking JavaScript serious when angularJs came out, which is strange because prior to that time I had been using it when modifying WordPress templates but I never cared enough to really master the language, But the advent of Nodejs and the possibilities that came with it made me to really dig deep into learning JavaScript, I rarely code these in any other language, in fact I would consider myself a JavaScript Engineer in as much as I am a Front-end Engineer

I work in my day job as a frontend engineer for one of the largest e-commerce companies in West Africa, I have worked a couple of on personal projects, also in really small teams and large teams. More recently I was involved in building a PWA (i.e. Progressive Web App) that being said when I am involved in a project, I not only aim to get the product shipped but I also consider the performance implications of the approach I take in delivering the project.

I'd say I got a late start on testing, but I have come to realize that writing tests is just as important as writing the actual application code, because for starters tests acts a documentation for the application code, also they helping lend run time reliability and ensure that the software doesn't regress when new change sets are made. I use selenium & nightwatch js for browser end-to-end tests and mocha, karma, jasmine for unit test most of the time

I've worked in capacity of a devops and release engineer, more importantly getting software out in a way thats efficient and reliable requires too much human effort without any automation being involved, hence the need for some kind of infrastructure around that. I have setup up applications using Heroku, DigitalOcean, AWS EC2, Docker, Kubernetes on GCP and often times I've had to write scripts to automate some parts of my deployment process
