Data Engineering/Analytics Maintained data pipeline handling 5M+ data events per day. Modernized home-grown hourly aggregation system. Supported data analysts with query development, performance enhancements, and statistical analysis. Finance Oversaw the development of in-house payment processing system as it scaled from near idle to 10k transactions per day. Interesting bits included both realized and deferred EU VAT treatments, incentive credits, and multiple currency ledgers. Generalist Led ongoing refactor from ad hoc tech to microservices stack utilizing Node, Express, React, Mongo, et al.

Analytics Drove the development of data-driven features to rapidly impact key Kiva metrics. Employed lean development techniques to gather and assess performance and inform future product development. Noted increases of 5.5% in donation conversion and 3.7% in loan purchase conversion. Data Warehouse Singlehandedly designed and developed Kiva’s data warehouse, focused on near real-time data integration. The data warehouse provides key insight to product and management while simultaneously providing statistical support to the primary Kiva website. Accounting/Finance Served as primary point person for Kiva’s first 3rd party audit. Duties included bank account database reconciliation, transaction conflict resolution, transaction processing robustification, and management of emergent fractional penny issues. Maintained and enhanced Kiva’s loan management software for lucid and accurate repayment settlement. Partner Platform Appointed lead engineer for Kiva’s partner facing loan management platform. Responsive to requests from 75 partners around the world. Generalist Was one of the Kiva's first 4 engineers, when we were responsible for all technical, business, and strategic aspects: engineering, OPS, QA (UAT + unit/functional testing), product ideation, and strategic direction.
