James Tookey

I currently work as a Senior Developer for Room 58. We produce a variety of software for clients such as Harley Davidson and Jaguar Land Rover. My day-to-day work mainly involves backend PHP and MySQL development along with Linux server maintenance.

At Endsleigh I was a full stack senior developer and worked on several websites across a variety of different technology stacks. This ranged from developing new products using .NET WebAPI, Angular and Sass to maintaining legacy systems using .NET WebForms and Visual Basic. As part of a large organisation, our websites would often have to communicate with a variety of services using both REST and SOAP. Projects at Endsleigh utilised both Waterfall and Agile methodologies. As a senior developer I was responsible for mentoring of developers which included one-to-one mentoring and team training. I was also responsible for being the technical lead on several projects.

I worked as a full stack senior developer in an agile team producing a CRM system. The API was written using Symfony and NodeJS with the frontend created using AngularJS, Bootstrap and Grunt. I worked with several database systems such as MySQL, MongoDB, Redis and ElasticSearch. All code was produced test first using tools such as Behat, Karma and Protractor. I also worked on the DevOps side of things helping provision the AWS stack using Chef and Vagrant.
