I use css and html on a daily basis building and designing web interfaces. I am very familiar with the basics of html and css, as well as some in-depth concepts and techniques. I have some experience with modular css best practices, but I wouldn't call myself a css guru.

I started working with Node.JS about a year after Ryan made the first release. At the time I was working with a startup called JumpBucket. We built a prototype using Node.JS and CouchDB and I fell in love with Node. Fast forward to 2014 and i'm writing some Node + Mongo for another company. It's cool to see the industry embrace JavaScript on the server!

I have used git on a daily basis for the past 5 years. I don't have any experience with gui tools for git. Using the command-line interface seems easier I think, at least it's easier to see what's happening and understand what git is doing with your files, in my opinion.

I learned CSS before I learned JavaScript so learning jQuery was natural for me.

I first taught myself html/css and then learned jQuery which lead to learning JavaScript in more depth and I have been learning more about it ever since. JavaScript is simple and easy to use, but it can be particularly hard to know the best ways to do things. Even in the community there isn't always a consensus to the right approaches for certain problems. Also, prototypical inheritance will forever be a stumbling block for junior devs (partially because of the name. what does that even mean?)
