I have always been a big advocate of explaining complex concepts in simple terms. This was at the core of the different Front-end related meetups I use to run in San Francisco California. I'm first and foremost a learner at heart. I really shy away from the word expert, but Javascript and the ecosystem of libraries and frameworks around it have been my passion and work for the last 15 years. My way into JavaScript started with jQuery as the greatest abstraction layer when it comes to DOM manipulation. The first time I heard about closures unfortunately was during an interview and I got to ralize that I did not even know the core language. This triggered a tremendous shift in focus and was the best blessing in disguise. JavaScript is a very rich language and the ES6 and beyond additions made it even more powerful. I have been able to impact very large code bases with a better approach in composing JS code. I love the framework and libraries we are spoiled with and use them every day as a professional coder. Those are even more powerful if at the core there is a solid understanding and depth in the language that powers them all.

In Senegal and many African countries, the simple question of finding the closest health service such as a drugstore, hospital, clinic and such can become a complex question. On top of that, those benefiting from an insurance coverage can only use PDFs or not up to date websites to have an idea of the extent of their coverage network. This is where APHIA comes in. APHIA provides pertinent health related information right at your fingertips. I was tasked to lead a very lean team to tackle this challenge with very tight deadlines. Ionic with angular 4, was almost a natural choice since the framework has matured quite nicely and handles pretty well the cross platform development concerns. For the API a restful Express API connected to a Postgres database supports the Front-end.
