Comes from a combination of training and good eye for design, but throw that into the mix of web development and you have a new beast. With advances in web-fonts we are able to finally see a set of standards for using beautiful type on websites.

After hand coding websites for many years I decided to look into utilizing a content management system. Initially I employed SSI's and then moved on to PHP includes to make a website easier to maintain (as I was working with huge college departmental websites at the time). I then found Mambo/Joomla and worked with it for a couple years but ultimately landed on WordPress and haven't looked back. Even when it was WP 2+, I was using it as a CMS instead of a blog. I created client sites and personal sites using themes to display highly customized websites, from basic business websites to photo galleries to online benefit auctions and more. I love WP's flexibility and through my use of the system I have begun to learn PHP.

I started out working on the internet in the early 90s when it was dial-up BBS, before it was really the internet. In the mid-late 90s, when the internet really started coming "together", HTML was introduced, and I have been learning and writing since the beginning. I can hand-code an entire website using HTML and CSS and know many of the best-practices and standards compliant methods.
