I'm currently leading development on a large scale React + Redux application for my current employer. I made the case for SPA + API when I saw the spaghetti ball I was about to inherit. I could not add to the mountain of technical debt which already existed.
After 3 years mentoring Angular 1 (along with vanilla JS, Ruby+Rails). When I learned Angular 2 was going to TypeScript and Static Types, the decision was a no-brainer for me.

Built an open-source BaaS storage system with Node.js, Express middleware, currently wth a MongoDB adapter. - https://github.com/philspitler/spitfire-express (needs to be ported to ES6/ES2015, but haven't taken the time.
Built a streaming stock ticker with Node.js on top of RabbitMQ and made use of Socket.io "rooms" in order to broadcast to multiple users that subscribed to those symbols (meaning of course, they were registered in those rooms.
