I've been the lead maintainer of RSpec since 2012 and a regular contributor to the project since 2010. It's not an exaggeration to say that I'm the world's leading expert on RSpec. I know more about how it works and how to use it well than anyone else.

I taught myself ruby in 2007 and have used it as my main language ever since. I know the nooks and crannies of the language very well and am well known in the ruby community as the maintainer of RSpec and the creator of the VCR gem.

I taught myself Ruby on Rails in 2007 (at the time, Rails 1.2 was the current version). I've built a few different rails apps both at multiple different companies. Recently, I've been building ruby apps at Moz that don't use Rails, but I still know Rails well and can advise. I also have commits in Rails: https://github.com/rails/rails/commits?author=myronmarston

I picked up TDD early in my career (in 2005) while doing .NET. I've continually gotten better at it and it's the primary way I develop code. In addition, I created the VCR gem as a tool to help with TDDing HTTP-dependent code, and it has now been ported into Groovy, Python, Elixir, Clojure, .NET, node, Erlang, PHP, objective C and more.

RSpec and cucumber are probably the most famous BDD tools out there, and I have extensive experience with both.

I started using git in January 2009. I've used it almost every day since. I'm a regular contributor to open source ruby projects. I understand git's datamodel very well and regularly massage commits before pushing using git's more advanced features.

I first learned SQL as part of my job working in the finance office of the university I attended in 2000-2004. I used Oracle at that job but since then I've used SQL Server, MySQL and PostgreSQL. I know how to model relational data well.

This was a great session, he definitely helped me get to the kernel of the issues, rapidly code-paired to get me something usable and understandable for me. He gave a lot of valuable context, and put very helpful comments in the code itself by typing and explaining as he went along. This is what I was looking for from a codementor relationship -- to move fast, but also to have enough information in the comments to help me go back and use the sample to work through the rest of my code.

Myron is a wizard; he made my problem easier to digest and solve! He helped me think about solving this SQL application problem by breaking down the issues and solutions into manageable steps; he also came up with some creative ideas for making our project much better! Also, Myron is a super experienced professional software engineer and was able to offer solid career advice. A++!
