I've spent years building classic web applications and services all with varying sizes and user bases. Rails is an ever-changing framework with a lot of the same core ideas throughout. A basic understanding of how the framework interacts with itself and your code can go a long way and I can help with that

At my previous company I constructed and maintained several gems both open and closed source. I have experience with various design patterns and best practices as they pertain to gems.

SQL has been the data backbone to nearly every project I've been on in the past several years. From Data Modeling and design to accessing your data efficiently, I can help get you on the right track.

Git has been my peace of mind in terms of managing code bases since the beginning. Its the simplest way to manage and track changes throughout a codes life cycle. I tend to have a classic understanding of best practices for private applications but have learned some from Open Source projects as well.

Bash scripts and some other basics are the vehicle to most things I do. I edit in the terminal, commit code in the terminal, and automate things like deployment and workflows in the terminal. Over the years I've become fairly efficient at using the shell and its abilities, though its been more peripheral than it is for some others.

My experience with javascript and its tools has been less full-time than my server-side language experience. I have been apart of projects that use javascript as icing on the cake of an application to upgrade its UI and I've been on projects that use full-fledged frameworks like Angularjs to construct the front-end. I can assist in making the decision of whether to use a framework or help with understanding little things like scope.
