Symbols is a platform for building and maintaining design-system and uikit. It heavily relies on a custom-built CSS framework called scratch and a DOM rendering framework called DOMQL, both of which were developed from scratch in Symbols.
My contributions to Symbols overall include:
- Hackernews, an open-source web app built with Symbols and DOMQL, was successfully demonstrated in Y Combinator's application. It served as an example/documentation showcasing the successful usage of Symbol's provided toolkits. Moreover, it functions as an onboarding tool for new engineers joining the team.
- Developing a template-like engine to convert DOMQL trees into a more preferred content tree format, such as Markdown or EditorJS, and various other X tree formats.
- Implementing a Playground and Fiddle UI component modules for the platform, which enables developers to quickly preview XYZ.
- FileExplorer module to the platform, allowing for easy exploration, editing, and creation of project files.
- Creating and fixing components for Symbols' core UI kit.
