My university background was in Computer Science and Math Education. I also have eight years of industry experience as well as practice with up-and-coming technologies like Rust and Web Assembly.

After a few years working with C/C++ I decided not to put up with memory unsafety unless there was a very, very good reason. That was almost 20 years ago and for the most part I've kept that vow! Rust is the language I've always dreamed of. It's an exciting time to be alive! Right now almost all of my rust experience is on the Web Assembly / wasm-bindgen side of things.

During my last two years at Web Performance, Inc I proposed and was given the go-ahead to develop a next-generation version of our product using JavaScript and Node.js. We levereged express, react, LokiDB and CouchDB. Sadly I'm no longer working on that project but JavaScript is so ubiquitous in so many situations that I still use it every day. I think that JavaScript has been a fascinating development in software engineering in-so-much as it has brought together talent from industry, academia, government and education to all contribute to a single programming language and environment.
