I write Ruby on Rails apps as a freelance developer, and have been doing this for a number of years after being introduced to Rails by an acquaintance. I've written a variety of applications across a range of contexts, including apps requiring strong encryption (such as for storing personal information) and apps for medium-large (500,000+ records) databases. Currently, I develop and maintain web dashboards for user-contributed bots that aid moderation on Stack Overflow.

I've been working with Python since early on in my programming career. I use Python in a wide range of applications, including small scripting tasks (mainly to automate away tedious data-gathering or filesystem organisation) right up to full-scale applications. One of the "user-contributed bots" that I mentioned in my Rails experience is another project that I'm part of: SmokeDetector, which scans all content on Stack Exchange websites to identify spam. I've also used Python to develop middleware-type client libraries for popular web APIs.

My primary use for C# is in developing GUI-enabled desktop applications for Windows, using the WPF framework. While I don't use C# as much as I use Python or Ruby, I have still developed a number of applications and libraries. Notable among these is ExchangeView, which is a work-in-progress prototype for a desktop client for Stack Exchange.
