I went into software engineering immediately after receiving my honours in computer science. I currently have 9 years of experience in the field and still have passion to do more. I have done numerous projects, working on frontend websites, app and backend services across numerous technologies. Over the years I began to realise what a social endeavour software engineering is. During this time I was a fullstack software engineer. My responsibilities was in the Group Customer services domain. We owned numerous backend microservices written in python. This was architected in a kubernetes environment where our services communicated with other teams microservices. This resulted in numerous collaborations with other teams. Our team also had a frontend react application which we maintained. This was the internal tool our agents used to assist customers. We built new features that was presented to us by product. We also made use of kafka where we processed large amount of events from other teams. It was used by one of our core services which kept track of orders and the details of orders.

We had old legacy templates that were built in house. They were old html templates. It became tedious for business/engineering to make changes. Every time they wanted a change they had to go through engineering to make the change. We provided them the ability to change these templates on the fly by migrating everything to Sendgrid. This required listing all of the email templates, creating a generic function to send the payload to Sendgrid, and create each template in Sendgrid. After the change, business can now go and redesign a template on the fly.
