I am Sidra Shabbir from Lahore, Pakistan.
I graduated from The University of Lahore in 2015 with the Degree BSCS.
I started working on Qlik Sense in 2016.
Why I wanted to learn Qlik Sense Extension Development
After my graduation, I was immediately landed on an internship in the Business Intelligence department.
During my internship, I realized that I really enjoy working with data. Hence I continued to excel in this particular department. And in 2016 I got introduced to the Qlik Sense.
How I approached learning Qlik Sense Extension Development
I was introduced to this tool in 2016. I started with Dashboard development & Data Modelling simultaneously.
After a few months, I got hand-on experience in Dashboard Development. Then gradually I started to learn about Extension Modification & Development, and I did pretty good jobs in it with extremely satisfied clients.
It was a bit hard to learn extension development because back then there were not many tutorials about it on the internet. All the basic content was available on the Qlik developer official website. After learning the basics I started to explore the Qlik APIs that can be used in Extension development.
Challenges I faced
The biggest challenge was the fewer tutorials over the internet. All I could do was to explore the Qlik Developer pages again & again to get the solution to any problem I faced in extension development.
Key takeaways
One of the key takeaways was to read the content repeatedly. Every time you read the same content, every time you got to learn something new.
The most I enjoyed was the part when I used to get the final product ready, it would give extreme happiness and motivation to work on the next project.
Tips and advice
That can sometimes be frustrating not to get the solution but you have to be consistent and keep doing the job.
That is the only way to get the job done.
Final thoughts and next steps
Overall I enjoyed every bit of learning this. You need to have the 'can-do' attitude to go with it.
My next focus is to learn the QLIK ENGINE JSON APIs. I already have started working on it.
