How I learned Python for Machine Learning
About me
I am a senior undergrad of Maths and Computing at the Indian Institute of Technology, BHU (Varanasi).
Why I wanted to learn Python for Machine Learning
The enthusiasm revolving Machine Learning hasn't left me unfazed!
How I approached learning Python for Machine Learning
Here is my step by step approach!
Step1 : Learn Python basics.
Just the basics. Nothing more/less. We'll learn long the way!
Step2 : Finish the coursera course on Machine Learning by Andrew NG. Really, that is an absolute gem. Just go ahead and do it! It really won't take long!
Step3 : Log into Kaggle.
And pick a practice contest. Fork a highly rated kernel. Run it and learn along the way!
Step4 : Write your own algorithm
(or make changes in the forked script) but DO MAKE YOUR OWN CHANGES and submit and see your score. Go and celebrate!
Challenges I faced
Well, not as easy as I made it sound! Will take some consistent efforts and some more time!
Key takeaways
Python is easy.
Machine learning with python is fun. So damn fun!
Tips and advice
Take a deep breath. Dive in straight!
Final thoughts and next steps
Keep practising. Keep competing. Kaggle is your comfort zone now.
Okay, I better start learning python from now.
Good compilation thanks. I too want to learn machine learning and I believe your inputs here are great.
Thank you! Let me know if you have any issues, I’d be glad to help!
