The Best SQL Tutorial Ever

Published Aug 26, 2019Last updated Aug 29, 2019

Anyone who calls himself/herself a coder on structured database projects needs to understand SQL. Even if you are a Ruby on Rails developer, and love active record, understanding the SQL code that is created from those queries is crucial.

However, if you are like me, you didn't quite understand SQL the first time through. Maybe now, you still don't understand the difference between JOINS, INNER JOINS, and OUTER JOINS, and countless other SQL commands.

Well, struggle no longer. The absolute best (and free) tutorial is found at SQL Bolt, via https://sqlbolt.com Full disclosure: I have NOTHING to do with this site. It's just a tutorial I found that finally makes the grade.

I challenge you to go through the first 12 lessons and then still tell me you don't undestand SQL. Then, continue with all of the remaining lessons (there are a bunch) to really start to become proficient in understanding SQL in all its intricacies.

This tutorial is so good that it's what I require all of my coding staff members to go through at www.breakdiving.io to help them truly get up to speed with SQL.

Bottom line, if you are new to coding, or an old hand who still struggles to understand SQL, I can't urge you strongly enough to take a day and go through this course, and finally see all your confusion magically disappear. Ahhhh...
