Upgrade from Drupal 7 to Drupal 8

Are you currently a Drupal 7 user who wants to upgarde your current Drupal 7 application to Drupal 8.

You're not alone, as many Drupal 7 users are asking the same question in the Drupal community.

So the below points will define you how to use the Upgrade Status module to see if it is possible to rebuild your current web application in Drupal 8.

Steps to follow -

Migration is a complex topic because every web application has unique features. The contributed modules you are using currently will determine whether you can update from Drupal 7 to Drupal 8.

An easy way to keep an eye on the progress of the modules you need is by using the Upgrade Status module. This module tells you the current version released.

Simply download and install Upgrade Status. Once enabled, follow these steps:

  • Login to your Drupal 7 site.
  • Go to Reports > Available updates.
  • Select the Upgrade Status Tab
  • Check that the right version of Drupal core is selected (it should be 8.x)
  • Click check manually.

Now it will show the modules you are using and provide a report page.
