How I learned Unity

About me

I am a C# developer that was highly interested in game development!

Why I wanted to learn Unity

I wanted to learn unity because of it's use of C# and it's ease of use.
It's also a free software so that's a plus!
I found unity intriguing to me, it had sooo many things you could do with it. It was an amazing feeling to just move things around in 3D space with just your code!

How I approached learning Unity

How did i get started learning unity!? Well i spent hours each day, googling certain topics on the engine. Examples: How do i move objects? How does the NavMesh System work?
I also read through the documentation! Yeah i know documentation ewww but once you actually read the stuff, everything starts to make sense! I then ended up taking some online courses, those helped a ton! along with the YouTube videos i ended up learning it really well!

Challenges I faced

The challenges i faced mostly was with the amount of documentation there was! There was so much to do it got overwhelming at times. But you really just have to push through it! It really is worth it. The satisfaction of writing a block of code that just works, and you know why and how it works. There is nothing like that feeling of accomplishment!

Key takeaways

What can i take away? Well the knowledge i learned from this! It is very valuable, if you know a game engine and know it well. Therese is a ton you can do! Create anything you can imagine! (UNLIMITED POWER!)

Tips and advice

Don't give up, giving up is the worst thing you can do here. If you really want to learn something setup a routine do at least a little bit of work each day. In no time you will be an expert! (Well that's not true but you get what i mean 😉. )

Final thoughts and next steps

My next goal!? Keep learning this engine inside and out! It's constantly releasing updates improving it's engine and visuals. I gotta keep up!
