I look for the following things in freelance projects:

  • the job description is well crafted, containing details on what exactly the client wants
  • realistic high level estimation
  • open for negotiation with respect to estimated duration as well as money.
  • open for suggestions about any improvements.
  • good listening capabilities and communication skills.

I look for well defined outcomes, to avoid scope creep and feature creep. I also ask to see the source code so that I can judge whether I can actually work with it.
