5 Advanced Tactics to Optimize Your WordPress Site For SEO

There are several advanced ways to optimize your WordPress site for search engine optimization (SEO). As one of the most effective approaches to drive traffic to your site, SEO is key to boosting your rankings in search results. Of course, a site that ranks higher in search engine results pages (SERPs) has higher visibility and traffic. As a WordPress developer, you need to know the most effective strategies that make your website much more visible to search engines. Whether you're looking to inform your readers or promote your services, these tactics are essential to building your audience. Read on to discover the most advanced tactics to optimize your WordPress site for SEO.

Use Internal Links Regularly

It is essential to regularly insert internal links. One of the most common signals of page authority are your internal links. Therefore, make it a habit to interlink your posts using relevant anchor text. For example, if you have multiple authors writing content for your site, you can require your authors to link at least three links to other posts. Certainly, this helps increase your number of page views as visitors click through to relevant content.

Plus, it also boosts the amount of time users spend on your site. As a result, your website increases in authority, gaining more trust with the search engines. Ultimately, using internal links regularly improves your SEO score for both your posts and your pages.

Implement An SEO-Friendly Theme

Another advanced way is to implement an SEO-friendly theme. Namely, you should look for themes that have a responsive design. According to Google webmasters, mobile-friendly content can rank better for users searching on their mobile devices.

Additionally, your SEO theme should be lightweight. Themes that have excessive third-party plugins and scripts can end up slowing down your site. Combined with a professional design, a well optimized theme will have your website loading quickly across desktop, tablet and mobile devices. Surely, choosing a responsive and mobile-friendly theme is essential to your sites’ SEO.

Choose A Reliable Web Hosting Provider
Next, you would need to choose a reliable web hosting provider for your site. A reliable hosting service can guarantee optimal speed. For example, a Virtual Private Server (VPS) hosts your website in its own virtual space with increased resources.

This tremendously decreases your loading time. With faster speed, your traffic will likely increase as well. Plus, faster speeds increase the chances of visitors viewing more pages and learning about your products or service. Web hosting service providers offer different plans for optimal website loading speed. This way, as your traffic grows, you can handle the demand for increased resources. Indeed, choosing a reliable web hosting provider is crucial for your site’s SEO.

Install an SEO Plugin
Moreover, you can also install an SEO plugin to increase your WordPress site rankings. With the right plugin, you can have more control over how Google views your site. Typically, many top search engine optimization plugins allow you to input a focus keyword for your article. Then, the plugin analyzes your content and assigns it scores based on various ranking factors. It might tell you how many times you use your key phrase or analyze your paragraph length. Using this analysis, most plugins provide recommendations for how to improve your post ranking. This allows you to create consistent content that the search engines rank highly.

Compress Your Images
Compressing your images can significantly reduce the size of your pages. This improves your WordPress sites' page loading performance. There are many online resizing tools you can use. In addition, certain plugins will automatically resize your images for you as well. You can also add image and alt tags to your posts to improve their image search rankings. In short, compressing your images is essential to keep your pages loading quickly and to keep viewers on your site.
There are several advanced ways to optimize your WordPress site for SEO. First, you need to use internal links regularly to increase your page views and the amount of time viewers spend on your site.

In addition, you should implement an SEO-friendly theme that is responsive. Next, be sure to choose a reliable web hosting provider to improve your site speed and search rankings. Moreover, SEO plugins are great ways to gain insightful analyses on your posts’ SEO performance. Furthermore, compress your images to keep your site running quickly and avoid user bounce.

Hi Ashok, thanks for your valuable advice. I have also heard that if you put your site live with poor site authority then Google remembers this and it is hard to reverse afterwards. Is this correct?
Regards, Richard
