C is one of the most widely used programming languages, and it being low level helps you understand how computers work and unleash all it's inner powers. I love the way it lends the programmer all it's power, without limiting their creativity and intents. I've worked with C for implementing several algorithms, data structures, toy programs, some terminal interfaces, and even games, always using cross-platform code!

Lua is one of the most well designed scripting languages I've ever seen. It is very simple, yet powerful, and provides great interoperability with C/C++. Lua is easily embeddable, making it great for extending an application's features through scripts, like games. It's metatable mechanism lets us create several abstractions, like custom types and object systems, including classes (if you ever need them). It also supports functional programming with first-class functions/closures, which is awesome to model many problems out there.

I love Python in the sense that you can achieve almost everything with it, and it will probably be really easy to do so. It's got a clear syntax, lots of builtin functions and libraries, and even more third party ones, great interoperability with C/C++ and support for utf-8 encoding natively (mainly in Python3). I've worked with Python for implementing web servers, web crawlers, image processing apps, scientific apps, automation scripts, and others.
