Are you looking for a mentor? Or someone to fix your code?

I get a lot of requests like this: "I have the following problem... (some code) and it gives me (some error). Can you fix it?"

Uhm... you're not looking for a mentor. You're looking for someone to fix your broken code. How about you try oDesk, or fiverr. Or how about you learn how to do it yourself?

What I do

“Give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day.
Teach a man to fish, and you feed him for a lifetime.”

I'm not here to fix your bugs. I have a day job where I'm doing that already, and I get paid more than what you're offering me.

I'm here to teach you how to fix it yourself. I'm here to teach you how to think like a coder. So you can figure out yourself why your code isn't doing what you think it should be doing. I'm here to teach you how to get better at coding. And how to avoid making those mistakes in the first place.

I'm here to teach you how to get good at this. And as crazy as it might sound, my goal is for you to get so good that you no longer need me. That you can go and teach others. My goal is to have you understand what you're doing and why you are doing it.

My goal is for you to become great at this.

You won't get good at this by having me fix your bugs. Just like you wont' get strong by going to the gym and having someone else lift the weights for you. You gotta get off your lazy ass and lift 'em yourself. Are you ready to do this? Then go ahead and shoot me a message.
