<p>Code that runs well but is hard to read is hard to take seriously. If you're just getting started with programming, one thing to keep in mind is your <strong>code style</strong>.</p> <p>Regardless of what language you are writing code in, look up the <strong>style guide</strong> for that language and give it a read. A couple examples of these are:</p> <ul> <li><a href="https://www.python.org/dev/peps/pep-0008/">PEP8 for Python</a></li> <li><a href="https://github.com/bbatsov/ruby-style-guide">Community-driven Ruby style guide</a></li> </ul> <p>Once you've read the style guide, install a <strong>linter</strong> which will help you find style issues in your code.</p>
