Bootcamp Instructor, full stack Rails developer, very newbie friendly!

Hey all,

I'm the instructor for the Back-end Web Development course at General Assembly. I'm also a volunteer teaching assistant for RailsBridge and freelance full stack developer. I know what it's like to struggle with learning web development and I've taught many people facing those problems. As a result, I'm very familiar with common problems new developers face as well as development environment setup on Mac, Windows, and Linux.

Problems? Questions? I'm all ears!

I've been using javascript with Rails, and in my front end work. It comes with the territory. This does mean most of my javascript experience is on the client side and not on the server side.

I use git in my daily work, and periodically run git workshops for General Assembly. I go over all the basics a newbie needs to know to be proficient, and a little extra tricks. Namely, how to setup a new repository, commit changes, push, how to keep features separate with branches, how to revert or reset your working directory, and how to merge or rebase.

I've been using jQuery in both my Rails work and my front end work. My latest side project is a chrome extension with heavy jQuery usage.

I picked up ruby programming when I started Rails. Keep the simple syntax without the weight of the framework.

I'm on my 2nd UX project and still feel like a babe in the woods, so I was looking for a mentor. Jonathan is a perfect combo of deep knowledge and great people skills. My only complaint is that his web page has taken off and he can't regularly mentor anymore :*(

Jonathan is extremely helpful, he's fast, accurate and very knowledgeable in front-end related things. I love the way he explains all options and suggests the most convenient one for each specific case.
