[Request] Migrating mysql data to RDS

<p><strong>Q: What was the request about? </strong></p><p>Switching from the production database to Amazon RDS. However, customer was stucked at how it should be done and he considered replication.<br><br><strong>Q: How did you help with the request?</strong></p><p>Advised that replication may not be the best choice, as it may complicate things if not done properly. Instead, go for the simplest solution. MySQL dump, and import it into the new database. Though, this will cause a short downtime. Worth the downtime during off-peak hours.<br><br><strong>Q: Any best practices &amp; key learnings you can share?</strong></p><p>Always go for the simplest solutions. :)</p>
