I'm a Principal Software Architect who has successfully designed and implemented complex systems involving GIS, remote sensing, distributed computing & big data, computer vision, web-scale applications, industrial systems integration, among others. Please book 24h in advance - the "Schedule Session" feature will have my up-to-date availability. All sessions come with 15 minutes free - no matter if you're a new user or not. If you're not, we'll just start the paid session timer when the session hits 15 minutes. If your issue was easy to begin with, and is fixed during these first 15 minutes, nothing is owed. If, for any reason, the timer does not start at the 15-minute mark, kindly submit the unpaid amount via offline help.

Hello 👋. I am Stanley. I describe myself as a *Digerati* (a portmanteau of Digital + literati) meaning literate in the digital space. I work as an independent consultant in both software engineering and technical writing. I am well versed in working in the **Scrum - Agile** approach. I mainly work remotely and my experience includes working within cross-cultural, multinational teams across industries like fintech, agriculture and education. As a software engineer, Python is my main tool. I'm comfortable with Javascript and have DevOps experience. My engineering philosophy leans on **Coding is like plastic, there's already much of it in the world** meaning that: - I seek out non-technical solutions in addition to technical ones - I strive to reuse and repurpose code not reinventing the wheel In technical writing, I employ the Docs-as-Code approach. I also get involved in deploying and maintaining publishing environments. I am keen on sharing my technical knowledge and supporting the developer experience of individuals and institutions I work with. Generally, I am a tinkerer and I believe in having fun and lifelong learning. I am also a proponent of Opensource software (OSS), and I maintain and contribute to OSS projects whenever I can. My mantra is "invoke the builder within and serve" (which is a continuous process of honing my skills as I build valuable experiences and remembering to serve others by sharing knowledge and breaking barriers of entry).

I have years of professional experience and education across a range of projects. I’ve created and maintained huge real-time distributed data solutions for successful startups as CTO and VP of Data Science, worked as a consultant on data engineering challenges with numerous stake holders in large organizations and completed a range of end to end projects for a multitude of clients. I've also spent the last 10 years working on multiple projects with Lucene and Elasticsearch in double figure production clusters and have a wealth of experience with index creation, management and relevancy tuning. I love expanding my knowledge in the field through ongoing education and application to solving novel challenges. I have a First class honours degree with additional post-grad research in computer science and I’ve built on this foundation with years of experience crafting excellent code with Python, Java and a range of big data platforms. I love engineering rock solid containerised services and equally exploring R&D on the frontier of natural language and machine learning.

“Another valuable session from a knowledgeable and friendly mentor, in the ongoing process of finding solutions for the myriad problems in my half-built PowerApp. This gives me encouragement that my project will eventually succeed with his help. Thank you Vijaya!“

“Lesson went well. We covered deleting files from S3 bucket, and uploading files and folders. John was very helpful and knowledgeable and I found out everything I needed about S3 and can implement it in my project.“

“Christopher took over an hour to look at my code BEFORE the session even started so he could get the problem properly "loaded" in his head. He worked very efficiently and helped mentor me on approaches that would solve the problem I was working on.“

“Solid guy. Has a clear understanding of C++ fundamentals and was patient and unafraid of helping with a rather subtle C++ bug that was also part of an algorithm TOO complex to explain in a single session. Meaning he had to help me debug WITHOUT understanding what the code actually does. Despite these obstacles he was able to give me not one but TWO possible approaches to solve the problem. And he managed to do so within 45 minutes of us discussing together (keeping my learning costs down for a problem that easily could've been very expensive for a run-of-the-mill tutor to deal with). While i'm not a C++ expert, I am a strong python3 dev, and I would gladly have hired Scott to work on one of my teams back when I was in the industry and strongly encourage you to book a session with him if you are on the fence.“
