My API key was taken down by YouTube without any valid reason. I tried for months to enter into communication with anyone at YouTube or Google to resolve the situation, but it proved impossible to reach any human knowledgable about the situation, either via their help center, phone center, community forum, etc. The only thing I haven't tried is involving lawyers.

I would be very careful about using their APIs for projects not needing to leverage any PAID services (I am told support is accessible in that case, though I can't confirm). This may be especially risky if you concentrate on music; their takedown of my app coincided with the launch of YouTube Music, which I think it may not be totally unrelated.
