### How is tech hiring broken?


Tech companies have been telling hiring companies that hiring is broken. The reasons include placing job adverts and reviewing applications is time consuming and difficult. To help cut down the workload, companies would often seek headhunters for support, but headhunters are expensive. The other alternative is to go “cheap” and go overseas, which often leads to quality, delivery, and security issues, among spiraling costs. 


To help companies locate good talents with no local references, TechieRank experimented with job applications that only had their GitHub and StackOverflow profiles. The profiles and candidates are ranked based on their GitHub ranking, and are evaluated based on their motivated level, passion for technology, growth mindset, and creativity. Similarly, their StackOverflow profiles are evaluated for communication skills, raw talent, willingness to help others, and teamwork. 


From there, TechieRank found Stack Overflow is a massive missed opportunity. As Joel Spolsky, co-founder of Stack Overflow, said, “Spend a few months earning a five digit Stack Overflow reputation and you’ll be getting job offers in the $100K+ range without an interview.”
