I have interviewed over 1000 developers about their work. The most important thing I learned is not a feature or need, but rather a mindset and paradigm, and it's the fact that coding is a craft. Matt is the Founder and CEO of Sema, a software company working on code quality tools. He started out on a Commodore 64, then worked on various tech projects before falling in love with improving code and helping developers advance their careers.
