Deploying your Meteor App

Josiah MacDonald

So you want to deploy your Meteor app for the world to see?

The first thing you should know is that Meteor Up (or mup for short) will be doing most of the grunt work here. Mup is going to setup the server, bundle your app, and do the uploading/deployment.

I think it is important to understand what is actually happening here: mup is going to "bundle" your app, which will help with performance in a production environment.

Actually setting up your server is simple. All you should need is a host, username, and password, and then running "mup setup" will allow mup to setup the entire server for your site. Finally, running "mup deploy" will deploy your site.

Actual configuration can change depending on your host. For example, EC2 requires a keyfile and not a username/password. Instructions for this can be found online, however I will try to write a full sized details within the next few days about Meteor in production environments.
