Hacking the World. Alumni @ 500 Startups, LeWeb, TheNextWeb, TechCrunch Disrupt, Startup Chile
Hello! I'm Mayel, I was until recently CTO, lead developer & co-founder of Babelverse – the universal translator for spoken communication, powered by polyglots around the world – a revolutionary global startup which I have presented at dozens of international conferences and various events, won some awards (TechCrunch Disrupt, LeWeb, TheNextWeb, etc), and gotten plenty of press coverage (CNBC, FastCompany, etc). We received funding from the likes of Startup Chile, 500 Startups (Dave McClure) and SV Angel (Ron Conway). I consider myself a "MacGyver" – quickly finding hacks or solutions to any technical or other problem – with duct-tape programming methods, which allows for the rapid creation of innovative and feature-rich applications, leveraging and bringing together the latest advances of any relevant open-source projects, open APIs, (draft) industry standards, research, cloud services, etc. It's like playing with lego. I like creating "working prototypes" of new tools and services. I’ve been in charge of everything from product design to coding, pitching to fundraising, hiring to project management, cloud/server setups to system admin, community building to creating a movement, branding to PR to social media, marketing to sales to customer service, etc... Beyond quick coding session, we can discuss your needs, which may involve agreeing on a limited amount of further contract work, such as helping with a PR/social media campaign/stunt, or hacking together a rapid prototype, etc. For example, I can walk you through building an MVP, figuring out what is feasible, what tools you'll need, how to hire the right talent, and more. Or we can discuss platforms – LAMP. Rails. AWS. Etc. What are they? Which one is right for you, and especially why?

I solve my own problems with grace and efficiency. I'll be happy to solve yours! My three most valuable skills: * Problem solving * Anticipation (of variables and user expectations) * Machine logic These skills, when applied to any challenge, design or technology stack, produce efficient and reliable results. What I enjoy most about Code Mentor: Utilizing my unique skill set to solve a diverse set of challenging critical issues for people in a bind. My most satisfying sessions solve very difficult and unique situations for those who have already exhausted their available human resources. I also really enjoy students who gain enlightenment from the deep insights that I can provide during our sessions. FAQ * No, I am not a robot. But my bots might be one day. * Yes, we have roads & electricity here, you should visit. :) * No, I will not travel anywhere , unless you provide a space ship or parachute. ** POLICIES ** * If you are dissatisfied with my service in any way, I will refund you in full * I do not generally charge for the "show & tell" phase of our session or random digressions * If your request rate is higher than my standard rate, our session rate will match your request rate * I try to make a record of all changes and be able to revert them quickly, but it is your responsibility to archive responsibly * CodeMentor has changed my life in very positive ways and I strictly adhere to their billing policy. All offline work must be paid for through CM at standard or agreed upon rates. * Time management is *not* my specialty. CodementorX saved me a lot of time by sending a shortlist of qualified developers within 72 hours. On top of that, payment through CodementorX was secure and communication was easy. I was extremely satisfied with the engagement!
As a marketplace and 500 Startups company ourselves, we were happy to give CodementorX’s platform a go when we needed developers with specialized skillsets. They did not disappoint and allowed us to find qualified devs painlessly.
Besides having access to highly talented and experienced web developers, CodementorX's project management service also help manage timeliness and bridge communication between the founders and the web developers. This is extremely helpful and valuable, especially for non-technical founders like myself.
CodementorX is a freelance hiring platform uniquely different from other platforms. Freelancers on Codementor function as mentors to less experienced coders, who collectively help curate a list of the most elite mentors. When hiring through CodementorX, I know I’m hiring the best.
