Full-Stack CEO, Lean Startup Consultant, Super Genius, Force of Nature
A leader. A brother. (Possibly) Your secret lover. Also referred to as “Who was *that*?” or “What just happened here?”, Justice Gray is what would happen if a professional wrestler and a computer scientist had a baby, that baby married a hurricane and they had a child named Justice. He is passionate about Lean Startup principles and ideals, and Agile like a vast, predatory bird. Most importantly, he is a builder who loves to build: building applications, building teams, building businesses and building dreams. When he's not saving the world one company at a time, he can be found espousing his thoughts either on LinkedIn or at whoisjusticegray.com. Note: If you are looking for a much less prohibitively expensive - but possibly more talented and equally handsome - resource to singlehandedly rescue your company through charm and brilliance, Vancouver's Kevin Dhami (https://www.linkedin.com/in/kevindhami) comes highly recommended from yours truly. Look at that; even just *reading this summary alone* has saved you time and money!
Test-driven, ux-focused product manager and entrepreneur who helps startups create lovable apps. Oh, and I only use my powers for good.
I spend my time working with startups as passionate as I am about building interesting products. I help distill a vision, wrap it in a memorable user experience, get it to market, and learn from it. I am a big fan of rapid iteration and hypothesis testing, and bring an intense desire for lovable interactions and a laser-sharp focus on measurement to every project. I believe creating a great product means embracing failure. If one has never had a bad idea, how would she know if she had a good one? If you'd like to schedule a time to chat on Codementor, you can book me here: https://calendly.com/joshdmiller.
Entrepreneur + coder who can help you build and launch new products
Having just finished my contract after selling my last software company, I want to take some time to help others before starting my next company. I've been programming since I was 9 and have over 25 years of professional development experience. As a serial entrepreneur, I've started 3 software companies and sold 2. I bring deep experience and wisdom gathered over the past 25 years along with skills in hot new technologies like React & Node. I specialize in creating paradigms--conceptual maps that help people navigate your product, API or codebase. I help you draw the lines between concerns, organize related parts of your application and name the boxes in your architecture diagrams. I'm passionate about getting the concepts of your application right, since they affect everything from your user interface to your database design to how you organize your code. But I can also help out with gnarly debugging issues. In my volunteer work, I am a mentor for Venture Asheville, a mentor program based off the MIT Venture Mentoring Service. I mentor startups using frameworks like Scrum and Lean Startup to search for product-market fit, then figure out how to scale their businesses to achieve rapid growth. In my personal time, I am an avid swing dancer & barefoot runner. I practice life hacking--using tricks and techniques to improve my habits, lifestyle and happiness--and continuous personal integration, where I introspect the challenges and successes in my life to improve my performance and to stay aligned with my life goals.
Front End Software Engineer at Hightail
Tech and Gaming Entrepreneur
I'm a veteran in the tech industry, having worked with a wide range of product from MMORPG to big data analysis to health care systems. Outside of programming, I've also volunteered and worked as an AmeriCorps member at an educational non-profit for inner city youths for over 4 years. Currently, I'm a member of the Technical Leadership team at ElationHealth, a San Francisco startup focusing on intuitive innovations to enable physicians to provide phenomenal care for their patients. Being in startups and working with new and exciting projects is rewarding. But seeing someone gaining the confidence and skills to take on a new challenge can be just as fulfilling - if not more! As a mentor, I feel that my strength is in my ability to explain domain knowledge in a way that is easy to grasp through analogies and examples. I am particularly experienced with prototyping and quickly getting tangible results in developing a product or working on a project. While I can go on rambling the theories and the intricacies of various computer science topics, I love to focus on getting from point A to point B, in both mentoring and my own development style. I see computer programming as a creation tool first, and as a scientific / academic discipline second.
Full-stack Developer in Ruby on Rails and React
I developed apps in Ruby on Rails, React and React Native for a startup. I am mentoring in same technologies. I've built a REST API in Ruby on Rails from scratch. I'm familiar with the gems Pundit (authorization), Devise/Omniauth (authentication), Active-Model Serializer, Rack-Cors, Paperclip (image on AWS), Braintree (payment provider) and others. I've web apps with React using Flux, Redux and ES6. I have contributed to Redux and held talks about Redux with React. I've more than +20 years experience in general software development and software project management.
