Web Developer & Teacher

A web developer with a passion for teaching. Senior Instructor at Lighthouse Labs. Founder of DesignDrop.io. I studied Computer Science at the University of Toronto and have been working as a professional programmer since 2005. My main technologies are Ruby/Rails and JavaScript/React/Node. I also grow orchids. :)

Computer Scientist

Building things like software products and intelligent machines and systems is the best job in the world! So if you want to have a chat about computers, let me know.

Developer, open source enthusiast & contributor

I'm a developer who loves open source, recently focusing more on the functional side of the Force. I contribute to multiple projects, including Ecto, where I'm a core-team member and one of the maintainers. I'm also a speaker and a trainer at conferences including ElixirConfEU and ElixirConfUS. I love helping people out, solving problems together and mentoring - you can frequently find me in various community places answering questions. I'd love for you to pick my brain on an interesting issue or a problem you're having! When not programming he enjoys reading books, travelling, and sailing - no matter if sunny, rainy or stormy - it's even better if all of those are combined!

Front-end / Back-end / Middle-end Software Engineer

I'm a freelance software engineer living in Chicago, specializing in web development and automated testing. I've worked on projects ranging from small brochure sites to large enterprise web applications, spanning the back-end, the front-end, and everything in between. I've thrived in developing greenfield projects as well as refactoring legacy codebases. I've managed database migrations, configured servers, set up automated testing, and implemented continuous integration. I am a full-stack developer. I'm also a polyglot at heart. My experience has predominantly been coding in Python, PHP, and Javascript, but I have also dabbled in Ruby, Elixir, Erlang, Dart, and several others that I'm forgetting. I love investigating and learning new languages.

Senior Full Stack Software Engineer

I can help you turn an idea into an MVP in record time, or simply help you debug that pesky bug once and for all ;) I have 6+ years of expertise developing software, mostly focused in web technologies, both in backend and frontend, with a variety of languages and frameworks, like Ruby, Javascript, Elixir, PHP, Ruby on Rails, Phoenix, Node.js, React.js, React Native, MobX, Redux. I have experience bringing ideas to life products, all the steps of the way, from design to development and deployment. I can help you giving you solid base and guidance on what you need to understand to become good at programming, not just master one language or framework but to actually gain a universal understanding of how proper coding is done that will allow you to easily pickup any new language/framework in the future.

Code As Art, Self Taught, Full Stack, Ex-IBMer

Turned to building web apps in 2009; initially in teams then more and more on my own doing freelance work; and now I partner with others to build products together from scratch. The consulting and partner role has been and continues to be an invaluable experience; accelerated my learning and deepened my skill as a software engineer. I have picked up and learned to work with numerous technologies on both front and backend for both web and mobile applications; example skills include expertise with Java, Go, Ruby, Elixir and fluency with modern javascript frameworks such as AureliaJS and React. I focus a lot on architecture and have built my own custom frameworks from scratch for both back and front end; I look foward to share what I have learned from my experience as well as work on exciting projects. Please feel free to reach out at anytime, I enjoy helping out and working together with others

Full-stack software maker for 15 years. Traveler, volunteer, teacher.

I'm not sure how seriously to take this profile, so this will probably change. But yeah. I work in this stuff all the time, mostly remote from my home out on the prairie, and I kinda' miss the open-plan offices and being able to roll my chair over to a colleague who got stuck on something. So reach out if you're stuck. Production projects in Elixir, Node.js, Rails ... and in a past life, Merb, C#, and stacks-who-must-not-be-named.

Merrily coding, teaching and learning

I've been programming for about 10 years. I work on Ruby/Rails and Elixir/Phoenix most of the time and find myself doing JavaScript, SQL, consulting, DNS configuration, and others. I also attend meetups so I can meet with fellow coders, where I teach and learn, which I love doing as well.
