Hacking the World. Alumni @ 500 Startups, LeWeb, TheNextWeb, TechCrunch Disrupt, Startup Chile
Hello! I'm Mayel, I was until recently CTO, lead developer & co-founder of Babelverse – the universal translator for spoken communication, powered by polyglots around the world – a revolutionary global startup which I have presented at dozens of international conferences and various events, won some awards (TechCrunch Disrupt, LeWeb, TheNextWeb, etc), and gotten plenty of press coverage (CNBC, FastCompany, etc). We received funding from the likes of Startup Chile, 500 Startups (Dave McClure) and SV Angel (Ron Conway). I consider myself a "MacGyver" – quickly finding hacks or solutions to any technical or other problem – with duct-tape programming methods, which allows for the rapid creation of innovative and feature-rich applications, leveraging and bringing together the latest advances of any relevant open-source projects, open APIs, (draft) industry standards, research, cloud services, etc. It's like playing with lego. I like creating "working prototypes" of new tools and services. I’ve been in charge of everything from product design to coding, pitching to fundraising, hiring to project management, cloud/server setups to system admin, community building to creating a movement, branding to PR to social media, marketing to sales to customer service, etc... Beyond quick coding session, we can discuss your needs, which may involve agreeing on a limited amount of further contract work, such as helping with a PR/social media campaign/stunt, or hacking together a rapid prototype, etc. For example, I can walk you through building an MVP, figuring out what is feasible, what tools you'll need, how to hire the right talent, and more. Or we can discuss platforms – LAMP. Rails. AWS. Etc. What are they? Which one is right for you, and especially why?
UX focused Android applications developer
Starting as a hobby, I developed Android applications for the last few years. I worked on various types of projects, some starting from scratch or coming at later stages, some alone and others as part of a team. I'm friendly, communicates well, and is highly motivated.
I am a development and UX design expert who helps companies build complex custom-made web applications by focusing on a single project at a time, having an agile proactive approach, and building software with business goals in mind. Through my boutique consultancy — codetree.co I work with established companies and passionate entrepreneurs to help them map out, design, and deliver their most important projects on time. Things I value: - Effective communication that keeps everyone informed and on the same page - Delivering weekly measurable results by showcasing working and improved software - Simple and transparent relationships in which everyone can speak truthfully Reach out and let's discuss your current challenges and future plans. At that point we will have a better idea as to whether we’re a good match.
head of Android development at Kamino d.o.o., public speaker, open source contributor
I'm head of Android development for Kamino d.o.o., a mobile development agency focused on producing high quality mobile apps. In this role I lead team of developers working on variety of Android project. My job, beside usual Android development is to stay ahead of the curve when it comes to producing high quality mobile apps. I try to scope out new technologies, come up with new ideas how to optimize development process and share that knowledge with coworkers. Beside sharing my knowledge internally I also like to create and contribute to open source project. One of the biggest is ButterProject/PopcornTime that allows user to stream video content to their preferred device. Other projects are anything from custom UI components for Android application to tools/plugins that make life for developers easy. Majority of them can be found at my Github account. Alongside open source projects I also like to do public speaking on different types of events. In past few years I have had talks internally for coworkers, on local and international meetups/conferences and on Faculty of Computer and Information Science in Ljubljana. I also had a 16 lecture long class on introductory Android development in cooperation with SmartNija. Before Kamino, I was senior/lead Android developer at Fika, that was a startup focusing on making calendar experience nicer on mobile.
Android Developer and UX fanatic
Entrepreneur | Android Developer | Android UX fanatic | Java Instructor I've been and Android developer for 6+ years, and I'm currently working full time as a Lead Android Engineer in two startups. Besides Android development I am also doing Java backend development, especially creating REST API's that are going to be used by front-end apps.
Passionate android developer
I know how to combine best practices of design, architecture and well structured code inside an android application and then how to measure it's efficiency. I've created my own apps from idea to market ready (one of the app has 250k+ installs). I've took a part in Yandex Browser development that now has 10 millions+ installs. I'm keeping track of latest news, released and best practices in android development and use them to create top quality applications.
