Industrial Engineer. Web Developer. Relevant financial background.
Flavio is prepared to become an immediate contributor on tasks concerning the development and deployment of Ruby on Rails applications (both front and backend), querying databases, and managing work with git. Based on previous experience, further qualifications he can offer are mostly related to Finance, Analytics, and Process Automation.
I started my web experience in 2011 by working for a startup accelerator. Since then I started many Rails projects from the ground up, deployment with Heroku/AWS+Capistrano, and using MySQL/PostgreSQL as database. I've been a partner on Touts.com.br, an e-commerce marketplace for artists, where I learned a lot about Bootstrap, responsive design, HAML, Sass.
I started used Ruby because of Rails and I felt in love with this language. The community is mostly product-driven and the syntax is plain-English-like. I'd recommend Ruby to anyone willing to have pleasure in programming. Besides Rails, I use Ruby to scrape web pages, consume RESTful APIs, or automate simple tasks.
Completely fluent with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, MSSQL. Mostly experienced on querying databases and exploring data, but also able to create and model a database from the ground up. For web application development, I tend to use "code-first" when using Rails and "database-first" on ASP.NET MVC (C#).
Git is part of the basic stack. I've been using it for a long time, and in every possible platform - Linux, Windows, Mac, or even through IDEs such as Visual Studio. There are no complications on git, but you do need to dominate it. It's on your day to day stack and it's really important to keep your code organized when working together :)
I've had multiple financial related jobs since 2011. All of them were intensive in Excel VBA and that's probably my best expertise. On the other hand, there are many other more elegant solutions I could help you with. If that's the case, we can use other Microsoft technologies such as C# (Console Application, Windows Forms, or even an MVC Web Application) to solve more complex problems.
