It has to use FOSS technologies. If it is FOSS itself, even better. I won’t even consider learning proprietary technology for a project, when I could be learning free and open source softwares that will stay with me after the project is over.

For me, the most attractive projects are those that look interesting and challenging. I mean it’s great if project expects several things to be done that I didn’t do before or knowledge that I didn’t apply yet or even learned.
